Today's Counselling

Just a quick report on today's session. Having been three times now things are falling into place. We had a full house today but I must say that there's one person who seems to hog the limelight a bit. I know it's always the same on any course, but it is a bit me me me. Poor J who missed last week didn't mumble a word from start to finish and L my smoking buddy was a bit quiet because she missed last week as well. The other J sat fidgetting all the way through and I'm not sure whether he's getting anything outof it. We've got two weeks off now for the holidays and a pile of homework. We have to practice doing 3 minute time outs where you focus on your breathing and surroundings I suppose in order to re focus yourself. Unfortunately I get this muddled up with the deep muscle relaxation technique and find it hard not to drift off. God help me when we do a 10 minute time out, they'll probably have to wake me up having fallen comatose on the floor.
Hopefully there will be progress on the shed this weekend. The garden looks like Steptoe's yard and it's quite funny because next door has been sold for a buy to let and there have been several viewings this week. I can hear the agent opening the back door saying and here is the garden and the viewers taking one look over the wall and the turning their noses up. I feel like rushing out and explaining that it's a work in progress and that it's only been like it for a couple of weeks, but no. It's the weather's fault not mine.

Enjoy your weekend whatever you do.

The patch tote is pretty.

I know what you mean about there is always one on a course.... when I did the Homestart thing one woman was driving me round the bend. Oh well, if it gets too bad speak to whoever's running it.

One thing I was taught on my Counselling skills course - given that power is not necessarily a bad thing - the quietest person in the room is often the most powerful and the one that is the noisiest usually the one in most need of help.

And if that doesn't help - poke her/him in the eye . . .

Wise counsel indeed Headmistress.

Courses are always the same; someone always has to steal the limelight. I don't think it's meant, it's most probably either nervousness or a strong personality.

I love the sound of your shed!

Stay quiet, Toady, you will watch and learn more than babbling away like some others. When you need to say something it will have far more weight than anyone who has been talking non stop.

I've fallen for that patch tote bag Toady, right up my street. There's always one, isn't there? I love the wise words of our headmistress!

After years of courses and courses and even more courses the trick is to see if you can pick out the problem in the first five minutes...then just watch the fun!

I love the Tote Bag with Cottage.

Heavens! there always seems to be one causing problems, hope it does not affect your course, especially when you are doing so well. I love sheds, the only problem is not letting my husband anywhere near them for fear of him packing too much in.

My husband did jury service last year and he said there was one woman on there who was driving everyone mad in much the same way as yours! Come to think of it, every course I've been on has had one too!!
I love that angel cushion ... I can just picture it on my sofa!

Ditto what the others say. Having run a few training courses in the Bank in my time I can confirm 'there is always one...' Just bite your tongue and be a wise monkey-the facilicator will have clocked it. The person is obviously very insecure and sounds like they are trying to convince themselves more than everyone else.

I am really pleased you are sticking with this Toady. And the one thing that is really shining through reading your posts and blogs now is that you have a very sharp sense of humour and dry wit which I can see much clearer than a few months ago. Keep up the good work...I promise you ARE making good progress.

warmest wishes
