At 3:10 this morning there was the most beautiful starry sky. Even with the light pollution of the town the sky was velvet black and smothered in stars. I was tempted to go out into the garden and have a proper gaze but it was so cold, unseasonably cold, so I jumped back into my warm bed and went back to sleep.
This tribunal business has knocked me back. I must make a decision soon one way or the other. I shall talk it over with my daughter. It's no good trying to discuss it with other half, he just gets all cross and starts shouting. Perhaps if I could let go and shout I wouldn't be in where I am now.
I'm totally exhausted after two days with the Springer from Hell. He is a lovely chap but very boisterous and always into mischief, and then he jumps up on the sofa with you and snuggles in and you could forgive him anything.
I have not been asked for my five moodbusters and I can understand why, but below I'll try to cobble up something.
1.Gardening
Just getting out and pulling a few weeds can lift me. While looking for weeds you notice the progress of the other planting, can dispatch snails, and smell the smells.
2. Bargain Hunting
Trawling Charity shops and car boot sales even if I don't find anything [but I usually do]
3. Reading
My life long passion. Currently reading The Shadow of the Wind and am holding Harry Potter next in the queue.
4. Comedy
Not the current drivel being offered up on the TV but real intelligent comedy like ' I'm Sorry I haven't a Clue' or golden oldies like Around the Horn, Monty Python and the Life of Brian. Sadly my all time favourite M. Hulot's Holiday cannot be played as I only have it on video and the machine is no more. It is an ex video, it is passed on, it is deceased.
5.Make Something
I am a useless and unimaginitive cook, but having rediscovered my sewing machine, I get great satisfaction once again from making things.

I with all those busters, I love carboot and junk shops, all your worries disappear when you go through the gate/door.

I think the thing with car boots and junk shops is that you have to concentrate or you might miss a bargain.... so you can't be thinking about your worries!
Smelling the smells is another good one Toady, especially garden smells!
A great list of moodboosters, Toady. I'm afraid, though, I do like the comedy like Men Behaving Badly & Only Fools, Open All Hours. I won't go on!
Best wishes and be strong.

Share your taste in intelligent comedy. And I love charity shops -the joy of being able to afford anything in the store (well almost anything). I always buy something that I would never have bought in a regular shop.
Am in the same position also with the video, which now seems of the same vintage as the wind-up gramophone.
Me too - garage sales and swap meets! They are such a lot of fun and I always feel virtuous about the recycling benefits!
Don't think any of us were directly asked Toady, we all just offered them up, so yours are as welcome as anyones! Totally with you on gardening and reading. I love browsing though craft/antique shops, but am hopeless at restoring or making things, though would love to be able to. I'm reading the Shadow of the Wind too a the moment but finding it a bit slow going.
I totally agree with you about the old funnies!!I'm Sorry I haven't a Clue' or Around the Horn, are right up my street too, some of the more modern stuff is just so predictable!! I liked your bad mood busters, very good adn down to earth.
Don't do carboots very often - I come home with loads of must have junk and no-where to put it with all the other must have junk. . . .
Oh I remember all those programmes . . . they really had you laughing out loud.
As a kid I loved the Clithero Kid as well as the others you have mentioned.
Yes we were all asked to do mood busters . . . .and yours are very important.
Oh Toady, just hoping that there is a way out of this for you without court...so unfair.
I LOVED Shadow of the Wind. And the new Harry Potter is fun too - we all read it while we were on holiday.....
