Well I'm glad that's over for another year. In best Scrooge fashion I can't wait to get the deccies down tomorrow, pack them back in the box and consign them to the loft for another year. I'm not a great lover of Christmas at the best of times and now that we have no littlies in the house to make a bit of magic for I'm finding it increasingly tedious. That with too much pre holiday sickness and sadness due to the death of a friend, and if it's at all possible, too much chocolate, we're all feeling decidedly jaded.
I've had a bit of a redecorate here in my blogroom and the nearest I'll come to a resolution is to blog at least weekly just to get things off my chest.
We had a phone call over the weekend from the English couple that bought our home in France. They only use it as a holiday home [that rankles]. They had managed to blow all the electrics and wondered if OH could remember the wiring and recommend a spark! Now we sold up over there in the summer of 2006 and I'm afraid OH doesn't carry wiring diagrams of previous houses around in his head, so I expect they had a pretty chilly time of it. I still find I miss the house terribly and rose coloured specs are just starting to colour up. I have conveniently forgotten the bitter cold winters - even with working electrics - and the money worries, and the frustration with French red tape.
Had a bargain at a charity shop this morning, a large glass - perhaps crystal, heart shaped bowl. Now living so close to the Dartington glass factory at Torrington everyone round here has a goodly collection of the stuff. I can't be sure that it is Dartington but for £2 I'm willing to take a chance. Now there's an idea for my next blog. Charity shops.
Let's hope for lots of bargains in 2009 and that the credit crunch is not too unkind to us.

Yup bargains galore in 2009.
And what do you mean OH doesn't carry around the electrical diagrams of your old house in his head . . . shocked I am truly shocked. . . . runs away laughing.
Glad to see your blogs again Toady and I look forward to a weekly visit.
I'm glad Christmas is Past too but I love the New Year, a clean page and all that.
Happy New Year to you Toady,
I also hope to be able to do more actual blogs this year.
So interesting to hear that your French successors reached out to you, rather than call an electrician. Maybe it is different across the Atlantic.
The crystal heart is lovely. I am still holding out hope that one of these days, we will visit a car boot sale, or some such opportunity, and that you will show me the way to treasures!
xo
I love hearts, Toady - I hope yours is what you think it might be. I too have made a resolution to blog more often, but here I am on day 2 of the New Year and I've not done a word!
All in favour of chatting about charity shops Toady though ours aren't as good as they used to be. Happy New Year to you xx
Oooh yes Toady, a charity shop blog sounds good, know what you mean about 'rankles', love that word :)
