New Wheels

I've spent a lot of time prevaricating and ruminating about getting one of these. Since our little corner shop cum PO closed down at Christmas I can no longer just run round and grab milk and bread and other things that are always running out and I was getting fed up with having my arms wrenched out of their sockets carrying bags back from town, and as we live on the lower steeper part of a hill I was coming back from a simple shopping trip to get a few bits totally exhausting.

L refuses to be seen with me with IT. I told her it could have been worse, I could have got a tartan one with a little seat so that I could have a rest half way!

OH totally suprised me last week. Usually our wedding anniversary slides by with hardly a glance but these arrived mid morning.

I rarely get worked up enough to write to the papers but the Jobsworths down at our local Council have decided in their wisdom to add another layer to local byelaws regarding dogs. What is in place already I totally agree with - cleaning up after your dog, segregated areas on beaches and no dogs where there is childrens play eaquipment. Now they want dogs to be leashed all the time, everywhere, so no running on the beaches at any time of the year, or on the nature reserves or anywhere that is under their control. I wrote to our local paper and my letter was published.

Great wheels, Toady! Mind you, it might have been worth the tartan and little seat to make L cringe.....I might have been tempted to provide that experience for Lillypad. :)
Too bad about the new dog bylaws. You must have a lot of non-dog-lovers on your council. Good for you for speaking up.

Hello Toady, I am feeling lots of solidarity with you.

Here in New York, it is easy to shop every few days. Our kitchens and fridges are small. We do our shopping on foot. All the markets cost lots, and it is easier to take in that cost in small installments.

I visit my local wonderful supermarket every few days, pick up one of their plastic baskets with the two wire handles. Try to keep to the list I've grabbed from my pocket, and do the rounds re the crowded aisles. (I do have to take a camera and do a blog some day.)

Then it's over to the check out area ... and if I am very, very lucky the twelve items or less that grant me access to the express lane will only cost me $20 or less. Sometimes more if it is time to get the olive oil or parmesan.

Food shopping is getting to be outrageously expensive. But ... we must eat.

xo

Lovely flowers, Toady, bless him!

And love the wheels too - I have some not dissimilar - since Farmers Markets took off here, everyone has them! If they take the wee-wee tell 'em to Build a Bridge.... you go girlfriend!

My Girl's had a fit when I bought my Wheelie bag several years ago. There's nearly a stigma attached to them - have no idea why. Mine is navy tartan, I bought it in Paris for 7 Euro, and I love it to bits. Bought it to bring wallpaper home. Always pop it in my suitcase when I travel as it is so light, to bring home the extra purchases. Great for Farmer's markets, and Summer fetes to haul home the books I buy.I think i will have to do a blog about my various bags, including your lovely knitting bag.! Lovely flowers.
