We've had a not very nice weekend here at Toady Towers. It started Thursday night whern poor Minnie woke us in the night retching up nasty green bile. First thing Friday we took her to the vet who diagnosed a gastric infection and injected her and issued big tablets, forbade any food and told us to restrict her water. We took it in turns sitting with her and mopping up. She showed no improvement all day Friday and by Saturday morning she was sinking fast. Back to the vet. They kept her in all morning and did blood tests which thankfully didn't show up anything, and gave her three more injections. For the rest of Saturday she was much the same and then early on Sunday morning she managed a few sips of water. The most beautiful sound in the world. She progressed on to more water and a few spoonfuls of fish and rice that I had prepared for her. By last night she had finished the fish and rice and had taken more water so hopefully she's on the road to recovery. The strange thing is that throughout all this her long whippy tail although tucked right in under most of the time, still wagged for us when we talked to her or came back into the room. I think dogs are wonderful.

A woof to Minnie from my two.xx
Ahh, bless her. Glad she seems to be on the mend now Toady. xx
Sorry to hear that Minnie's been ill ... glad to hear that she is on the mend, with tail still wagging.
xo
Hope doggie continues to improve.
Oh Toady I do hope she is ok - have been through this with Sassy and it is the most awful time isn't it? The best sight in the world was the day when Sassy was able to do a normal poo . . . only a dog owner would understand this.
Fingers crossed.
Oh Toady, so sorry to hear that darling Minnie has been poorly, I am so pleased that she is recovering and on the mend.
I know like me how much you adore your dog. Please give Minnie a great big hug from me, and sending you a great big hug too Toady.
xx
Heck, Toady, that sounds awful. Isn't it so sad when they wag their tails even though they're feeling so rough. Hope she continues to improve.... jxx
I remember when I was a veterinary nurse a man bringing in a GSD, he looked my boss striaght in the eye and said
" It rattles!"
"What rattles"
"The dog does of course"
On examination the owner was quite right, she did rattle, when you gently pushed it tummy up and down.
Quite unphased by the proceedings the dogs happily let my boss make her quitely rattle.
It appeared the owner threw stones on the beach for her and instead of dropping them she had taken to swallowing them and it was the stones we could hear!.
She underwent and op recovered well and was sent home with a note to say
"No more stone throwing!"
