Makings Lists

Reading Sally's Chateau's blog and all the garden activity has left me feeling nostalgic for Brittany. I know our life there was untenable and hindsight can leave a rosy glow but I find myself with a bittersweet ennui. I have been scouring the internet for comforting images and came across this poster for an exhibition by Ernest Guerin, one of my favourite Breton artists. I also have a couple of his bigger posters. Nobody can conjure up Brittany better.
Sadly progress on the front room has ground to a halt as we have to wait to have a gas pipe moved and the man keeps saying he'll come but never gets here. Also poor OH is suffering with a post viral depression and has lost his oomph. So wasting no time I managed to get a last minute booking for a studio in St Ives Bay for next week ,that was no easy task. Firstly I'm extremely mean and really begrudge paying for bedrooms that wont get used. There will only be two of us plus dog and there is a serious lack of self catering for two. Then of course there's the dog. So many places refuse dogs these days but this place is dog friendly. Which brings me to the lists. From the simple lists of clothes and food, to the dog's requirements, medication and remedies, cameras, binoculars, batteries and radio. They go on and on. OH has acquired a very impressive new digital camera with lenses and filters and all manner of bells and whistles so the holiday will give him a chance to get to grips with it. I've never really got to grips with my little camera and haven't got past point and shoot . Apparently it will do some fancy things but reading the instructions makes me glaze over.
Of course it's Wimbledon fortnight and you'll find me glued to the TV in the bomb site that is our front room. Brilliant so far. And I've made sure there's a TV next week for when it's raining or so that I can catch up in the evenings.
Roll on Saturday.

Oh..St Ives...how lovley Toady, and what a good idea for shaking off the post viral blues. There is, or was, an amazing Vegetarian rstaurant there too, lots of non veggies eat there because the food is so interesting.
Have a lovely time, hope there is plenty of sun. Wish I was there!

Gorgeous picture of your stock! Did you see my request for window seats? I'm looking for two large cushions and covers to fit into my window seats for my dining room but nobody seems to be able to help! Can You???

Our holiday cottages on the farm take up to 2 dogs. Lovely area if you're ever up here.

Also, I'm taking Amy to Brittany at the end of August and can't wait. It looks beautiful. We're staying near Quimper, about 1.5kms from the coast.

Good for you . . . exactly the right thing to do . . . I hope you both have a fabulous time.

Interesting that lots of places don't allow dogs - we do and just about every booking now are dogs and their owners - well the owners make the booking obviously. We get to meet lovely people and lovely dogs.

HS and I have talked about oneday building accom for couples - we get a lot of couples here, but sleep four.

I hope the weather is kind to you - although as you will be glued to the TV you probably won't notice.

I'd love to visit St Ives, hope you have a terrific time.
I wondered if you have remembered about another bag for me. I didn't want to hassle you but if you feel like it, I'd love another one.

Sounds like the perfect solution Toady....hope the sun shines on you and you have a fabulous time. Know what you mean about finding smaller places to rent that will take dogs...we have the added frustration of finding places that will take dogs AND child....
Sorry about the pipe - a familiar story indeed....
and sorry about OH feelilng low...hopefully the break will do wonders for both of you.
Also know what you mean about looking back with sadness/fondness..... can imagine it must be hard as sounds as if you had a gorgeous place there.

I am envious Toady. St Ives in your own little place that welcomes dogs,(or not so little). I look forward to hearing about it. Will photos be taken?
I hope you have a great time, sure you will.

PS Are you a Safin fan like me?

Oh how annoying about the old up with pipes, but hope OH better soon.

Enjoy your holiday in St Ives, I'm looking at renting an old Rail way carriage in Hayle for next year.

Not been able to get into Wimbledon this year, work too busy, shame!
