Missing Books and Sideburns

In all the time that I've been using Ebay I have never had anything go missing so it's particularly irksome to not receive something. I ordered a lovely craft book from The USA over a month ago and in spite of many emails and pursuing it through Paypal , no answer came the stern reply. It's only the equivalent of about £5 but I really wanted the book. My last hope is that she sent it surface and it's slowly wending it's way across the Atlantic in some container ship.
Which brings me to the second missing thing. OH has happily been using one of these electric hair clippers. He gets rid of the bulk [ in his dreams ] and I go in last and tidy up and trim the back of his neck. Sadly on Saturday my attention was grabbed by the Turbo Tennis that was on C4 and I inadvertently looked away at the wrong moment and managed to slice one sideburn right off. Well hysterical laughter almost turned to tears as I stood there clinging to the back of the chair paralysed with laughter and holding the offending clump as if I could stick it back on with a bit of glue. He took it really well but I have not, and will not be allowed to forget it. When he's got his specs on you can hardly notice it. Honest.
It will be the last CBT session on Friday. From 5 we will have dwindled to 2 for the last session so they have decided that it can be covered in one . I will report further when I've covered the whole course on it's effectiveness. I'm also going to meet a lady from the University of Exeter who is studying the effects and causes of long term depression next Thursday. When she telephoned to firm up the appointment she asked me if I minded being videoed. I said yes, I don't think I could cope with baring my soul on camera!
Well it's chutney day today using up all the pears and UPL's recipe. I'll let you know how it goes.

I do not blame you toady I would hate to be filmed for anything! I nearly died of embarrisment when local paper came to do photo shoot of me and kiln! Hope the chutney goes well, it is meant to be good with cold meats!

I ordered a book from America once and it took absolutely ages! Perhaps it will arrive.

A friend gave me a bag of pears on Sunday but they are hard and she told me to keep them for a couple of weeks before eating them. Perhaps I could make something with them. Not chutney tho, none of us eat it.

Hi Toady, I agree, I would not be filmed at any cost! However, my children are quite happy to be filmed, they have been on Gaelic TV etc. I hate to even have a photo taken!

BTW - It is a bit mean to give me double homework - I have enough to do catching up with all the blogs!!

Hilarious about the sideburn....men are so funny about their facial hair. Adrian is growing a beard which is a cause for much merriment.
Quite so about the filming. Hope you didn't feel remotely guilty. Do you think it's helped at all, the CBT? btw, Exeter have a great art therapy programme apparently.... might appeal. I did art therapy for a couple of years and adored it -saved both my sanity and my soul.

I have my eye on my mother's pears for that chutney. Let us know how it goes.
How very annoying about the book - but yes, it could be surface which would take AGES. jxxx

I really love your new items for sale, especially the Courtyard Cushion and the Sunflower bag (my sister would like that she is sunflower mad). Will look at your site. Has the CBT helped? I couldn't bear to be filmed either!

Oh dear. Do you still fancy him without his sideburn? I've never seen the keen mountain biker without his beard and I've known him for years and years.

Oh Sorry sorry still laughing at the sideburn . . .

Have you heard from the person you bought the book from. I had dealings with one chap who wouldn't answer my emails I escalated it and we sorted it out in the end.

You have done so well to stick to your sessions . . not easy when others are dropping out.

Having spent years working in TV on the technical side you would think I am ok with cameras . . but no . . was being filmed long time ago talking about Homeopathy . . mouth dried up, throat closed . . . uurrgghh . . .so think you were spot on to say no and also assertive many people would have said yes, meaning no!

Loved the sideburn story and would have had a hard time not giggling hysterically as well!
Quite right about the filming - I go all peculiar when a camera points itself at me!
Do hope the CBT has helped - it did for me....good luck!

Hope the book arrives soon Toady. Heck, that was lucky about your husband's sideburns. My husband asked me to clip his once, was not amused when I nearly damn well cut his ear off.!!

I would be the same on being filmed, would totally be nerve-racking fo me. So many lovely products on your site Toady.

Chutney day here too, I am making beetroot chutney...
Hope the CBT has been helpful, I found it quite empowering, but at the same time when depression takes a hold I find it very difficult to clear, it is so physical, more like you have to grit your teeth as it consumes and then passes you...
Loved hearing about your hairdressing skills...will you be allowed to do it again??

Hi Toady. No, couldn't be filmed either. I LOVE that shabby sheep you clever thing. Let us know how the chutney goes ( love making chutney too) xx

Hi Toady! I nearly wet myself (am I allowed to say that?) at the image of you clipping that side burn off! Ditto Jimmy's hair clipping - I'm the tidy-upperer. I guess the difference with us though, is J has VERY little left, so slicing off a sideburn would hardly be noticed. Ha, ha. He has a number 1 all over now - much easier, especially after a glass or three of wine.xx

Ditto my last comment!!ie, those sideburns and your sense of humour!

I have to say I have had so many poor experiences of buying (and sending twice) to America on E-bay that I have given it up!

I would also NEVER be filmed...not in a month of SUndays!

warm wishes
xx
