These tablets seem to have found passages in my brain that have been long dormant. I have been firing off ideas like billyo - some are absolutely barmy but some appear to be viable. After a lot of detailed analysis, and finding that Mr Ebay and Mr Paypal are making more out of the shop than I am, I have decided to close it down although I'll still keep my ordinary Ebay account. It was interesting and without it I would never have met the delightful Maurizio [ see odds and sods blog for his correspondence] and I haven't actually lost money, but with an Ebay shop you feel compelled to keep posting stuff to keep it interesting and thus you keep racking up sellers fees. I'm still considering my own website but brain is not quite ready.
So onwards and upwards to scheme #2. Barnstaple Pannier Market is one of the best in the country. Daughter and I had a stall there on Saturday. It wasn't a roaring success due to there being a big Folklore event elsewhere in the town but I'm hoping to get a stall on Friday - the main market day- and try again. There is something curiously quaint about market trading. You go in off the main High Street with all it's slick shop chains and enter another world. Trestle tables set out with all sorts of stuff, fruit and veg, cards, pottery, clothing, tools, sweets, and there is a lovely camaraderie with the other stallholders. So let's see what Friday may bring.
I've got my first counselling session this morning. Can't say I'm looking forward to it but hey ho I won't know unless I go.
Have a good week.

I loved doing market's and i may start again soon, it's just the initial taking the plunge again..
As for the internet it's not all it's cracked up to be xxx Good luck and give that councilor a good session Lol xxoo
Hope the counselling goes well, am thinking of you. The market sounds like a great idea, at least, like you said, you and us - got to meet Maurizio!!
Hope you find the counselling helpful and well done for tackling the market. Look forwards to hearing about both in due course.
Good luck with the market, Toady and I hope the counselling goes well. xx
Hope the counselling goes well, and good luck with the market, I love markets they are great fun, much nicer than shops.

I do appreciate what you mean about the shop. It is slightly different for me as I have a 'business account' and therefore the £6.00 and sellers fees are deductable. YOU made the choice to walk away Toady. It was not a failure...you dipped your toe and it wasn't viable...sensible business decision to stop in those circumstances. You did it girl!!
I tried all sorts of avenues with my crafts-for example craft shows, fairs, fetes, parties etc until I found the right combinations...
By now you will have been to the counselling so I hope it went ok. Was thinking about you.
Warmest wishes
xx
It is good that you tried it Toady. I think markets will be fun, and you will meet nice people, hopefully, tho maybe not so much fun as your language challenged man!
That market sounds fun. I wish I lived nearer. I've tried selling my beads on ebay but I felt I was just providing bargains to people I didn't. best of luck with the counselling.
I used to really enjoy doing market stalls with my crafts you are so right about teh friendly atmosphee. Good luck with the session.
